WouWou! After a few weeks of development the new design is live. Code name: Colourmic. We’ve spent a year with our green black look and it was good at the beginning but to depressing for me on the long run. The new one is much more dynamic and colourful.
I’ve tested it like I usually do, meaning set it live and hope but everything seems all right so far. If you spot any problem please let me know. Their are a few things on my to do list like favicon and search box but other than that, it’s cool!
Feel free to share your opinion, good or bad comments are always well received (as long as you don’t use bad words). The blog template is coming soon but not quite ready yet…

Hi Ben,
nice design
At first, a bit confusing but as soon as my eyes get used to it – veeery nice
Ah, one word to our screenshot service. What’d ya say, if you could snap 1-x subpages and include them into an animated gif? So people can not only see the frontpage but also some of the subpages?
keep up the good work,
cheerio
Frank
P.S. To not snap “waiting” images you should check the response headers from our thumbnail service. If you check the header “Status” you can differentiate between done snaps and snaps pending ( status message is “Pending” ).
cheers
Frank
Hi Frank, thanks for stopping by and for your comment about the design! I would love to be able to show inner pages as well. Is that something you are planning on adding to the thumbnail service? Even for the free users? That would be awesome!
I’ll have a look into those headers, it never occured to me the I could detect if the generation was pending or not… At the moment I do it by testing the filesize of the picture because the “thumbnail generation in progress” stays the same. But it’s not ideal.
Cheers, Ben
Hi Ben,
yes I am thinking of coding some kind of “bot” that scans subpages too and snaps 2 or 3 of them and make an animated gif of it. Actually it’s just an idea, but as soon as I find the time I’ll surely dig into it. Would be a nice feature, also for the free users
Concerning the headers, I am going to release some small tutorial soon on how to check for the responses from the service. This should help a lot of people not saving “empty” shots.
take care,
Frank
Well I would be very happy to be your beta tester
btw is there a trick to properly snap pages that rely heavily on javascript for their design? I think there is a delay time variable I can pass in the url but I haven’t actually tried. Is it to let the page load before snapping it?
Hi Ben,
welcome aboard ^^ – concerning the free version, here are scripts disabled, just for security reasons. I might consider reactivating it, but it gave a lot of problems the last time I did that. Pro version has not these limitations ( something must differ ^^ )
Delay time can be adjusted yes, but that’s just for flash pages. Yet in this wait time the other controls should also load completely.
