The wordpress team has released a few days ago the first beta version of the next wordpress, 2.7. I have seen some screenshots before, mainly pick from the bleeding edge but now that it’s a beta we can excpect less changes until the stable version is out.
Si here are a few screenshots taken from my localhost running 2.7.1 beta. As you will see the new admin skin is defenetly more fancy.
The new dashboard, even more complicated than the previous one. Each box can be moved around by drag and drop. You can also choose not to display some, which is very good.
The add new post page. Quite pleased with the new version. Specialy since they’ve moved the category and tag box to the right hand side.
The new menu on the left is alright. Very tall if you open each menu like I did on the screenschot. The first few days will be hard, trying to find where the stuff is but we’ll get use to it.
One of my favorite feature is the new plugin page. You can now install plugin straight from the admin panel by searching the repository. Find the plugin you want, click install and that’s it. Done.
The last screen is..well, I let you discover by yourself. How long have you been waiting for this?
Release date: November 10th.

Thanks for the screen shots.
I really like the new design, its very clean and easy to use.
I agree, it’s a neat new design. Even if I liked more the typographic style of the previous interface, the new features made me change my mind. Can’t wait.
