Soh Tanaka, weekly winner

This week I’ve picked up the blog/portfolio of Soh Tanaka, a talented web designer from Torrance.  The first idea that came to my mind was ‘neat’. The website seems very clean, I think it’s a good illustration of the pixel perfect notion agencies like. The blue theme is well balanced between dark and light. I particularly like the blue latest post ‘cascade’ on the right.

The buildings and animals shapes and the bottom are quite cool es well. SO yes +1 for the design, original enough to stand out from the web 2.0 lot.

Code wise it’s  xhtml strict for the doctype. The site is powered by Wordpress and jQuery for the javascript fancy stuff. It’s a bit divs heavy maybe. For example I don’t get the use of a div to mimic a <hr>. Why not use the <hr> and style it properly? Apart from that it’s clean, nothing to say really.

I would have replaced the divs in the footer that display the list of link by definition lists but that’s a personal choice.
