When you ask people what are their favorite software for designing web site’s graphics you usually get the pro Photoshop vs the pro Illustrator/Fireworks. Designers in the second category will argue that Photoshop doesn’t give the pixel perfect output you get with a Illustrator on Firework, because they are vector based.
And it’s half true. If fir example you draw a random shape using the shape tool in Photoshop, and zoom on the edges of your shape you will often see their is actually a 1 pixel line with a different colour shade. It might not seem big but it gives a kind of blurred edge effect that’s not visually appealing. In any vector based software you don’t get this.
Now go back to Photoshop and select the shape tool. In the top menu where you can choose what kind of shape you want you a little arrow that expend the options panel for the chosen shape. If you select the “snap to pixels” option all those edges problems will disappear. Start enjoying pixel perfect Photoshop.
