ShadowGem, winner of the week

They ♥ the Internet and I ♥ their website. A clean, white, grid, typographic website. Again. Yhea but that’s what I like. Which is far from yoursiteisvalid when you think about it. Redesign is on the way.

So back to ShadowGem. White spaces, white background, flashy orange text to spice it up a bit, it works. They use Georgia as the main font face and in this typographic context I have to say it looks rather good. As a one page website it had to show everything without cluttering the page and the choice of the very simple design achieve this.

Only the quote behind the testimonial text bother me. It make the text hard to read above it. Maybe a lighter orange or a grey?

Code wise it look simple but effective. Nothing fancy. I don’t see why the title is buried under two divs where the h1 could have been styled up and used as the container. Good to see the testimonials in the blockquote tags.

I see more and more of those one-page portfolio and I think it’s a googd thing. Instead of trying to fill pages and pages with rubbish having only one but with the relevant information is a progress.
