I had some really good submissions last week and it was hard to choose only one to talk about. So here it is, RG Design & Development, winner of the week.
I couldn’t find any category to fit it in so I created one called “large background images”. And I think it was a good thing because some other sites have been moved there as well.

Roberto’s design is spot on. I really like the large header that blend nicely with the grass background. The picture is crisp, colorful but not to overwhelming. And because of those warm colours the website doesn’t feel cold, even with the black background.
The rest of the site is as simple as possible. Dark grey lines to highlight the different areas and glossy logos the works pretty well on black. The layout is a ‘common’ two columns right that so much blogs use. A Bit more originality here could bring the site one step further I guess but it’s not a major issue as the navigation is pretty clear this way.
Code wise the site is powered by Wordpress for the CMS and jQuery for the fancy stuff. I would have used the jQuery from wordpress instead just to not have twice the same library. And some of the javascript could definitely be moved to a separate folder to clean up a bit the header.
Conditional comment and browser detection is used here which certainly means the site is cross browsered properly.
I think the strength of this site is mainly the design and the contrast between the black background and this reds and yellows. The little icons add to the finish and make it looks pro.
