Mobile web design, mobile browser simulator

In order for a site to work on a wireless handset, it must adhere to most website accessibility design guidelines, as set out by the W3C. Here are some guide lines to make your website more mobile browser friendly.

  • Don’t use tables for the layout, use CSS instead.
  • They best doctype choice is XHTML or in a certain extend XML
  • Think about screen resolutions as low as 120px.
  • Display important content at the top

Most of these recomendation comes with any standard design so it shouldn’t be to much trouble to get a website mobile friendly. Mobile browsing as improved significantly over the past few years with the gerneralisation of 3G mobile device and particularly the Apple Iphone and the wide range of Nokia handset.
