markItUp!, anyone for a plugin?

One thing that’s missing from wordpress is a robust way to edit theme and plugin files from the admin interface. Yes you can do it via the built in editor but its really painful. I had to use it in the past and it’s enough for little tweaks but that’s all.

Even if serious programing is not meant to be carried live on a production website I wish sometimes I could have something else than this basic textarea. Same issue when you have to insert code in your post. Even with the greatest care it never goes right first shot. TinyMCE has the annoying habit to cut some of the of the code.

All this to say that it shouldn’t be to difficult to make a plugin that uses markItUp! to create a nice css, html and php editor? I am on my way!
