Missed the weekly winner post last week? Yep scheduling error, my bad. So for last week I wanted to shed some light on the brilliant Informinds website.

First things first, the design. Nice choice for the background. The old wooden frame gives it a so trendy old style look. The red and yellow keep the site warm and friendly. Then the beautiful farm picture set up the place. I am very impressed by the quality of the shot. So crisp and colourful. That was my first feeling about the site. Then I pressed one of the link in the menu and…I got really excited.

This is such an awesome idea! The sky of the picture is actually not part of the picture and when you go to another page the background slide smoothly to the left to live room to another sky. 10 out of 10 here, very original.

As you may have noticed this site heavily relying on javascript. Fade in/out everywhere, background slider, bouncing icons and much more. The framework used is jQuery, with loads of plugins it seems. There is a big piece of javascript in the head tag that could be moved to an external file. The markup could be improved as well. It’s not the best semantic website I’ve seen. Loads of divs where they could use <p> tags. A few <br /> that could be replaced by margin of padding.

So maybe not the best code example but the ideas developed for the design are outstanding, well done guys.
