Talking about contest

Lets face it, everyone like contests. The one you find on blogs are usually free and can get you free stuff. From a website owner point of view they are also very rewarding. I have not the experience yet but the right contest on the right website will bring traffic, links, interest, more opportunity to make contest. Loop that and you get growing website with more and more visitors.

Jeremy Schoemaker at Shoemoney wrote a nice post about why we should consider contest more often as a marketing tool: http://www.shoemoney.com/2008/10/08/blog-contests-a-to-z/

Fill you toolbox with Noupe ideas

Noupe have an interesting post about the best tools for web designers. It’s a very common subject but they have some tool that I haven’t seen anywhere before so go and check the list: Designer’s toolbox

Snapshots are back for a while

I have found another free snapshot service for the gallery. Works exactly as was websnapr before. Unfortunately the size max is 280×210 which I think is a bit too small for the single page.

At least I have the thumbnails back. What would be a gallery without screenshots of the sites you showcase. Now I might change from SnapCasa to something else. It is taking age to get a snapshot and the few that have been updated so far don’t always show the actual website.

If you want to give it a go on your projects here is the address: http://snapcasa.com/

Colour test

Here is a quick test to measure your ability to order colours by hue. Drag boxes of colour and reorder them the best as you can to make a nice gradient. Some people are better than other to spot difference between colour and I guess it can also change with age. Read the rest of this entry »

jQuery website redesign, well…

I was a bit surprised this morning to discover that the jQuery website had been redesigned since my last visit. I don’t remember the last time I went on the site so it might not be a news for you…

The new design is…quite funky isn’t it? I like the new logo but damn why the dude in the header. It doesn’t look credible at all!

The vista like download button is horrible as well. OK the previous website was very bad and it looks a bit better now but the sites like mootools or protoyte looks far more clean and trustable. It’s not even valid!

No gallery winner this week

Unfortunately I had to stop posting site on the gallery since my automatic thumbnail service changed their rules about free account. I am working on it but it is taking more time than expected. I hope to get the gallery back and running next week so stay tuned.
