Oh joy, when you run a gallery site and you get some beautiful sites every day. I got some very good one this week but I have really been impressed by bluedots design Alberto Villalobos’s portfolio.
The design first
Wide background seems to make their way in web design thanks to the democratisation of high speed internet connection. It doesn’t take too long to load the fantastic watercolour desk picture the make the background of this website. The different shades of blue on the paper texture give a retro touch enhanced by the clean design of the vector desk stuff. A bit grungy on the edges with cut paper and non-square form.
There is obviously some work on the typographic part with big title and serif fonts. Good use of italic and letter-background as well.
Code wise
Clean valid xhtml strict with some custom conditional comments for CSS. A lot of divs but could be justified here because of all the images. Maybe having the google tracking code at the bottom could be better, but that’s all I can see on the homepage.
Very inspiring design, well done Alberto.
